Million Women Mentors *TX “Stand Up for STEM” Awards
A super big thank you to Dawn Davies (A.K.A. Earthbound Astronomer) from the Austin Astronomical Society who nominated me for the Million Women Mentors- Texas “Stand Up for STEM” Award. We attended the Texas Women and Girls in STEM Summit put on by the Texas Girls Collaborative Project this past December together and enjoyed engaging presentations and connected with STEM educators and professionals from across Texas. Thank you Dawn for supporting me always in the work I do.
If you don’t know about the Texas Girls Collaborative Project, you should! The Texas Girls Collaborative Project connects non-profits, K-12 schools, higher education institutions, companies, organizations and individuals across the state of Texas committed to informing and motivating girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Led by the Women in Engineering Program (WEP) at the University of Texas, Austin. The Texas Girls Collaborative Project puts on Girls Day at UT every year and serves over 8,000 kids with a day of STEM programs and educational activities to encourage girls to pursue STEM fields. It’s coming up Saturday, February 23rd, 2019 so mark your calendars!
