Girls Scouts Reaching for the Stars NASA Grant
I will be traveling with Girls Scouts and leaders from the Lone Star Council to NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in June as part of the NASA “Girl Scouts Reaching for the Stars” program. One very special part of this grant is the chance to go to the Goddard Space Flight Center for a weeklong intensive space science workshop. I will be traveling as the amateur astronomer on the team along with two senior Girl Scouts and one Girl Scout adult volunteer.
We will be spending the week participating in hands-on activities, observations with a robotic telescope, presentations by NASA scientists, lab tours, and night time observing. The best part about this project is that the main goal is to prepare 10 Girl Scout council teams to establish Astronomy Clubs back home! I feel so fortunate to be able to help them with this effort.
